Errollyn J.
Private tutor in Baton Rouge, LA
Education
I am currently an MBA student. My long-term goals include completing a doctorate in Educational Management. I possess a BA in Political Science, with a focus on International Relations- which includes Geography.
Experience
I am interested in being a tutor to help me with my long-term aspirations- to open a charter school. My interest in elementary education has led me to pursue further interest as a PhD student upon completion of my MBA in less than a year. I have been invited to apply for several fellowships by various organizations, including the National Science Foundation. Personally, I believe that teaching is a calling. It's up to the teacher to create an environment for the student to succeed; I also believe today's classroom structure does not allow that- for a number of reasons. Therefore, parents are compelled to supplement their children's education. Sometimes, students just need the opportunity to learn at their own pace in an environment that has been adapted to their needs. As an undergraduate, I tutored students at elementary schools who were enrolled in supplemental reading programs. I've also provided reading, English, and Social Studies tutoring to local high school students throughout the Baton Rouge and New Orleans' metropolitan areas. My coursework included Geography, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science (including Constitutional Law, Civil Governments, International Relations, and American Foreign Policy). I currently possess the CEM designation as credentialed by the International Association of Emergency Managers. I am certified in Basic First-Aid, AED, and CPR for adults and Children.
